Are bridal shoes just regular shoes but they call them bridal and charge more?
Do you know where I can get some cheap bridal shoes, the cheapest I see is $59
Check department stores and shoe discount places (Zappo’s, DSW, etc). They don’t have to be called “bridal” shoes. They don’t even have to be white – the bride can wear whatever shoes she wants on her wedding day.

bridal shoes cost more because they mostly are dyeable to match your theme or close to it.but you can get good shoes online. i got mine online, sometimes its easier to look for what style u want then see if u can order it ahead of time or take the one u pick picture to a shoe store to see ifthey have something like it. try dyeables…

Go to any shoe store and look at pretty white shoes. I bought mine at DSW on clearance and they were only $30. Underneath that big white gown, do you think anyone is closely examining your feet? Nah. Go see what white dress shoes you like at any shoe store.

Yes, they are just regular shoes. You can get any pair of white shoes (or whatever color you want, I wore red ones) from any store you want. Even Walmart or Payless!
EDIT: Also, buy those gel inserts for dress shoes, your feet will thank you!

Generally, the price goes up whenever you call something "bridal" – LOL.
I searched eBay and found white satin ballet flats for about $20 (including shipping).
Most people have floor length dresses, so who is really going to see your shoes? I say just go to a regular shoe store and buy something nice and comfy in white OR scour eBay for bridal shoes.

FInd white shoes that you love and buy them!! they are likely to be cheaper because they don’t have to word wedding or bridal so they are likely to be cheaper. anything that is specialty is more costly, just like my erked question of why are white christmas lights cheaper than white wedding lights!!! It’s just a marketing tool!!!

Go to any store that sells shoes and find a comfortable pair of shoes that you love that match your dress. Comfortable is the key word.

Bridal shoes are just regular shoes. You can wear any type of shoe you want. Unless you are wearing something like a tea length dress no one is going to see the shoes anyways.

of course bridal shoes are just regular shoes! you can go to payless and get white shoes for like $20. a wedding gown is just a ball gown that’s marked up 1000% because specialty bridal shops carry them! any shoes you wear at YOUR wedding are bridal shoes. any jewelry you wear is bridal jewelry, any underwear you wear is bridal underwear!

Most bridal shoes are dyable to match the bridal party’s attire. If you’re looking for shoes just for you, then anything white will do, they don’t need to be bridal. But if you want dyables, go to Payless. They have completely revamped their dyable selection, plus during bogo you can get them for buy one get one half off!

Worked at Payless for a year and helped many brides with shoe selection.
I have very small feet. For my wedding I was able to purchase shoes off the clearance rack at Target in the children’s section (right after Easter) for around $6. They were very comfortable and very much the style I prefer (a low heel)!
Many brides these days do not even wear white shoes! Many brides look for blue shoes so they can be their something blue. Other brides opt for shoes in their favorite color to make it more their style. Some brides wear sneakers or flipflops to be more comfortable! Brides often make the mistake of wearing stylish shoes on their wedding day that are very uncomfortable. Don’t forget a bride will be on her feet ALL DAY and should choose footwear accordingly. Also, an old Celtic (Irish) legend says that a bride should not wear new shoes on her wedding day because the evil fairies will kidnap her for her shoes!

Yes. Buying "bridal" shoes at a bridal boutique will most likely cost more.
If people are looking for more affordable options there are alternative stores – Payless, DSW…

I bought my shoes in the slipper section of JCPenny for $12. They were white ballet flats. You can’t see them anyway, under that big ol’ dress!

You don’t have to stick to the standard "bridal shoes". One of my friends was just married in May and she had bright red patent leather heels. Looked amazing.
When I got married, I actually just went and checked out a bunch of dept stores. My shoes were $35 from Macy’s. You can try DSW (discount shoe warehouse) as well. They were ivory with sparkles on them, very nice. I had actually went and bought about four pairs of shoes and then tried them on with the dress itself. I decided on a pair and took the other three back.
Don’t limit yourself to what is at the bridal boutique. You can look anywhere for shoes for the big day.

PS-don’t forget to take into consideration the length of your dress. I am on the taller side and had to be careful with the heel height. While I usually love taller heels, I had to stick to a 1" heel or lower to keep from being too tall for the dress. (Had a mermaid style dress and the designer apparently only made the dresses for girls that are 5’7 and below…no matter what size you get.
Yes. I bought my wedding shoes from a department store on summer clearance for $9! They are real Italian leather, made in Italy, originally priced at $130. Because I was willing to search through lots of stores and didn’t restrict myself to "bridal" shoes I got exactly what I wanted for WAY less money.
The funny thing is I was willing to spend around $100 for them because I wanted good quality shoes so they would be comfortable ALL day for my wedding. I just lucked out that I got really good quality (ie comfortable) desinger shoes for an amazing deal. It’s all about not restricting yourself to wear you look, they are just regular shoes!
And yes it it nice to have dyables if you want them to match your colour scheme, but brides usually just have white/ivory or mettallic shoes, not dyed. And any good quality white satin shoe (which 50% of dressy shoes are made from satin) is dyeable, not just the ones sold as "dyeable". I even saw a nice pair of satin shoes with lace overlay that could have been dyed, the lace would have held the dye too.
Lastly, dyeables are horrible in the rain/snow/wet. My wedding is at the end of November so I was only looking for leather since it could be rainy or snowing ie wet! And a satin dyed shoe could run or transfer onto other fabrics (like the hemline of a beautiful white dress) if they get too wet. And once wet, satin shoes, even white ones, take forever to dry, so you don’t want wet feet at your wedding.
Now is a great time to pick up dressy wedding shoes on sale since we are coming to the end of wedding season, so that type of thing is on sale right now (just not in bridal stores)
best wishes!

I totally agree. Stores take advantage when the word "bridal" or "wedding" are mentioned.
For your wedding, any type of shoes that you want will be perfect.
I had just became engaged, when at the mall I saw the most gorgeous white shoes with huge rhinestones. They were on sale for $20.00. I bought them and was so excited these are my wedding shoes.
Six months later and about three months before the wedding, I saw a beautiful pair of white boots and then I remembered that I always wanted to wear white boots on my wedding day.
I also bought the boots and wore them for the ceremony.
I wore my shoes for the pictures and the reception.
I had also bought a pair of low heel sandals for the dancing.
I ended up with so many shoes because I kept on loving everything that could be part of my wedding.
Take your time and hopefully you will find something that you love and that is also economical.
Good Luck and Congratulations.
