What do you think of bridal shoes and a bit of color for the bride?

Hello!
I am searching for the shoes that I will wear with my gown on my wedding day. Recently, I was looking at many photography portfolios and seemed to have found a trend…. Many of the brides had nontraditional bridal shoes (Red, purple..so on) . I am usually very traditional (Ivory/White) however this trend has stayed in the back of my mind. What do you think of bridal shoes and the color they should be? Traditional? A splash of color? I am currently interested in this shoe from Payless’s dyables: http://www.unforgettablemoments.com/Audrey-Dyeable-Slingback-Peep-Toe–Wide-Width_p_52.html

My gown is ivory so if I were to be traditional I would pick french vanilla, however I was also looking at the sea glass color. It is a very light blue so it wouldn’t be “screaming” color however it would be a bit different and it would/could serve as my “something blue”. Opinions would be great! Thank you!

    i think thats a gorgeous idea!

    im having the traditional ivory shoes but i think its a great idea! and like you said it could be your something blue!
    the other option is to have a lighter shade of whatever colour your bridesmaids are wearing, could also be cute!

    go for it, your wedding….your rules!

    These days the traditions don’t mean what they used to and every bride really makes her own traditions. Shoes are a very easy way to make your wedding unique. Just remember that whatever color you choose, you will have to look at the photos forever. Most wedding dresses cover up the shoes during photos except for when you purposefully show them in a photo. It’s really cool if the color means something to your relationship though. Like if you met on the beach and you wear the color of the ocean. I know a girl who wore purple Converse of all things! I think that’s going a little overboard – but it’s just my opinion. It worked for her. I think the sea glass color is really classy. I think in the photos where you do things like the garter if you plan to – or photos where you show your feet – you know the fun photos that you do during the reception and such – it would be very fitting.

    Ever since I was a little girl I’ve know that I want colorful wedding shoes. I think it is a great idea. Although ivory is an incredible color, the idea of being in something so simple and plan is boring. By having colorful shoes you are allowing a subtle splash of color that will be discreet and can certainly be tasteful.

    I understand that you are a traditionalist, so why not have some fun with that? I think the idea of using the shoes as your something blue is a great idea. Even if it is just a soft color! I would say that you should go for it!

    I think that’s a great idea. My main color will be red (that’s if I don’t change minds before then :P ), so if I keep it I’m going to be wearing red shoes.

    Is there colour in your dress, as if there is a colored shoe would look great. I personally feel you need to match the shoe to the colour of the dress. To me a bright colour would look bad.

    Having color for your shoes is a great idea.

    My son got married at the end of July. His bride, decided to wear a Pink Pair of Sandals.

    I really added a lot of color. The photographer loved it so much that she submitted some of their photos to a Newport, RI magazine. And yes, there were published.

    The bridge also added a little of the same color to the flowers she and the bridesmaids were holding. Just to pull it all together.

    I had red shoes and they were a hit at my wedding! The best man even mentioned them in his speech! :) I say go for it! It’s especially fun if you do a garter toss, because everyone will definitely notice your shoes then!

    I love the idea and I’m wearing the blue Manolo Blahnik’s that Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the Sex and the City movie. I know, I know…a bit cheesy of me to copy off of a movie but I love the shoes. They’re my ‘something blue’. I say go for blue shoes but go for something bold, not something too light. If you go with something as light as the sea glass color (which is very pretty, btw) it may look as though you tried to get shoes to match your dress but messed up in the color. What about the ‘tahitian blue’? Good luck with your wedding. Congrats.

    the ones from Payless are very much in style right now and I’m sure they’d match your ivory dress. I would not, however, do the sea glass colored shoes. If you like traditional yet elegant and fashionable, I think the payless peep toes would be gorgeous BUT if you want to have a spunky, edgy and unique look, you could pull it off with some bright colored heels. I personally attended a wedding where the bride wore bright orange pumps under her ivory dress. Personally I would go for something trendy along these lines (the ivory ones in the upper left hand corner):
